Go-Green demonstrates a Fiat Doblo electric vehicle from
Mikro-Vett fitted with Altairnano batteries enabling fast charging
in 10 minutes for 75 km range.
Micro-Vett Fiat Doblo
The standard Micro-Vett Fiat Doblò uses a 43 kWh lead-acid battery pack, providing a range of 150 km (93 miles) in the urban duty cycle on a single
charge; recharging takes 5-8 hours. The vehicle uses a 30 kW (60 kW peak) motor from Ansaldo Electric Drives. Coming soon after an announcement
that EDF and Toyota plan to develop more EV charging stations, Green Car Congress1 reports on a successful test of AeroVironment high voltage, rapid
charging stations. The Micro-Vett Fiat Doblò, “powered by a custom 18kWh Altairnano lithium-ion NanoSafe battery pack, traveled 300 kilometers (186
miles) in one day.” During the test, the custom battery pack was fully recharged three times. As with other quick recharge stations and vehicles with fast
charging lithium batteries, recharge occurred in less than ten minutes using AeroViroments’ high voltage, 125kW rated, rapid charging system. GCC
commentator Rafael Seidl observes that an urban delivery circuit with high voltage, rapid charging systems available makes sense for delivery fleets,
Especially, he notes, for those companies that can afford such vehicles and charging stations… oh, and “train their staff in the safe handling of the cables
and connectors associated with such high power levels.” [Via Jcwinnie.biz]
